My Android OTA update finally arrived to my phone and gTablet on Thursday. I know, I could have sideloaded the app, but I didn't really care, so I lazily waited for Google to do it for me.
In reality, I'm only slightly disappointed I didn't make the upgrade sooner. The update doesn't change too much, but it does present a greater more "solid" feel, meaning the screen seems more full. The upgrade takes the Market to version 3.0.27. The coolest part of the update is the inclusion of the ability to rent movies or purchase e-books.
One of my favorite new features is the "Staff Picks" and "Editor's Picks" screens. These introduce you to a variety of apps that are favored by the Google insiders. These screens work similar to the corresponding selections in iTunes.
Overall, the new update seems too similar to iTunes, which I'm not knocking, and doesn't seem to highlight Google's uniqueness.
