Hooray! The Android Market finally topped out at over 500,000 apps. Well, that's really a misnomer, because, as this story points out, roughly 37% of the apps in the Android Market were removed.
That's a pretty common occurrence for both Apple's App Store, and Google's Android Market. Both are known to clean up outdated, poor performing, or malicious applications (you remember the Market's cleanup a short time ago).
By all accounts, Android only trails iOS by about 140,000 applications. Considering Android's explosion, and the expected "ice cream" update, you should expect that number to incrementally drop quickly.
