Test Drive the Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard

I just installed the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard on my Motorola Droid Bionic. Its not much different from any other keyboard, although the blue interface is pretty cool.

     Android Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard

Right now, this only installs on phones, or perhaps newer Android 3.0 devices. To install the keyboard:

  1. Download the Ice Cream Sandwich .apk here.
  2. If youre at a computer, youll need to transfer the file to your device: connect your phone via USB > copy the file to your device > disconnect your phone.
  3. If youre downloading this on your phone, open the downloads folder.
  4. Find the file using your phones file manager.
  5. Click on the file.
  6. The file will begin to install. You will need to allow the phone to install non-market apps. Your phone will ask if you want to do this. Click the check box for allow non-market apps.
  7. The file will finish installing.
  8. To use the app: Click Settings > Language & Keyboard > click the checkbox next to Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard. You should also change the settings to match your preferences.
  9. Make sure Ice Cream Sandwich is the default keyboard under Input method.

Congratulations. You have ICS, at least partially, on your phone.
