Droid Does, iPhone Doesnt: PDF Document Create

Well, here's just one more thing that Android users can smile about. Adobe released the Adobe CreatePDF app that allows you to create PDF documents from documents on your Android device. The app is $9.99 (which incidentally is the same price as their online service costs per month).

The app is simple enough to use. First, the application searches your device's SD Card for documents and pictures to convert.

You tap the document you want to convert, and 30 seconds or so later, you have a PDF file you can share with the world.

However, this app isn't without its faults. The biggest problem is that this app doesn't have a search feature. Therefore, finding my document wasn't easy. Since the app pulled every document in my Doc-to-Go folder, I had to scroll through 10,000+ client documents and other forms. This was time consuming, to say the least.

Second, and this may be a frustration from the lack of search, I couldn't select the document I wanted to convert without scrolling through my thousands of stored documents. This could be problematic if I saved an email document, then wanted to go locate the saved file. Unfortunately, I couldn't even get File Manager to open the document in the program.

I hope these are some issues that the developers will fix as time goes on.

In general though, this is a great program for quick conversion of PDF documents. I don't know that I'd ever use it in actual practice. Since it's a generic PDF creator, it's missing some of the robust features of Acrobat I use everyday, such as stamps, metadata removal, and form creation.
