I got my email today notifying me about the official opening of the Amazon Appstore for Android. This looks to be Amazon's attempt to break into the Android market-share. I suspect, as others, that Amazon will soon release an Android-based Kindle. That makes my mouth water! Imagine a Kindle Tablet device that will compete with the iPad 2 or the Motorola Xoom, and probably for cheaper.
There's nothing significantly special about the Amazon Appstore. There seems to be a similar number off apps, and over-the-air install. However, the biggest feature, which sets Amazon apart from Google and Apple is the "free app-a-day feature" (it's offered with their music too). Today's app is Angry Birds Rio, which is an addition to the popular free game.
I encourage you to check it out.
